Iceland Volcano Plume

I wonder if Steve is gonna get stuck in Europe for a while?

GREAT photo.

I wondered about that too since they are discouraging anyone from traveling in and out of Europe for the next month as they try to get caught up with those waiting in airports to get out. But if he has a return ticket and things clear up as they are hoping, he should be okay. Big if, I know!

Just got email from Steve:

"Stuck in paradise - too bad - see you next year - no worries"

After I thought about that I wondered if he would even _want_ to come back......

The way things are shakin' out he might judt make it back to California in time for the BIG ONE. Oops...Shouldn't have said that.

If somebody else doesn't ring in soon, we might as well just email snappy patter back and forth to each other. That way we wouldn't have to log in each time. Where is everybody?

Typing hurts. Fucked up my left hand and really can't afford the layoff.

Diane Smith said...

Sorry Rik. Hope you get well soon.

In the meantime, just back from Leon Redbone at the Top Hat in Missoula (the local seedy music bar in town). What a wild and almost surreal show. He is wonderful.

We could always let the Chinese back in....!

or......?

What happened to the hand,Rik?

I love that Leon has remained an enigma. I've run across him several times over the years and I've yet to see him break character.
Diane, how are the new wheels workin' out?

He's definitely different. I think he may be the character. Or at least I think he is a character. Great young honky tonk pianist traveling with him, too.

As for the peacemobile, we're officially launching it tomorrow, with champagne and hors d'oeuvres from the neighbors. They can't wait any longer to get into it.

So I'm driving us all down to the river tomorrow afternoon.

I think it's about time, too, to de-winterize it. I think I'll have it done for me the first time, until I can get used to all the rules and regulations of this thing. But I'll get there. And then I'll be down there!

Looks like the travel situation in Europe is getting worse (poor Steve!).... It's affecting everyone's music:

Jeez. The lead singer from Misisipi Rider is in Scotland at the moment. He may not make it back for the show we're doing with them at the Freight next Sunday.

And my hand is slowly getting better, but typing still sux.

My friend, and frontman for Misisipi Rider, Mike Wolf, is still stranded in Scotland. He's not terribly fond of haggis, and he's gigging with us on Sunday. We hope. Misisipi Rider without Misisispi Mike just isn't right, even though Cree, Katy and Doug could pull it off without him.

Gary, I stubbed my left ringfinger coming out of the repair shop. I was carrying a box and caught the finger on the doorjam, bending it backwards. Damned lucky I didn't break it. I immediately got my wedding ring off before the swelling started and got through the rest of the day typing one-handed. That night, every move hurt, and I had to tape around a ball of cloth so I could sleep without moving it and waking myself up. But it healed way faster than I'd feared. Can't play the fiddle, though.

Not surprising. I never could.

Oh, and Gary, thanks for the e-card.

I can't play the fiddle either! Glad your fingers feelin' better.
