I'll vote for that! It would be so great to see and hear Bill play again. It's been way too long.

Cool! Is he in touch with Tony? Is that how he found you?

So nice to see the family all coming back together again. We should add him to our list.

We have always been in contact with Bill. He moved back to Ashville in the late 70's to watch over his Mom, Ada Jane. We have been to visit him twice, but he has never come back to CA. He lives with his son Ian in the same house he was born in. He's in great shape, had a few medical problems, nothing major, but still chops fire wood.
If anyone wants his phone #, e-mail me and I'll send it. He's lonely and would love to hear from you.

Plus.....he still plays banjo, fiddle, dobro, guitar, has taken up keyboard. (when his fingers aren't giving him trouble and any other musical instrument.

Maybe it's time then for him and his son to make a trip out West! Sounds like that would be good for all of us!

In answer, Diane, no, he and I have not been in touch. To be honest, I don't remember a Bill Cunningham... owing (I hope) to my short tenure with all things/people Paradox - Sept '65 through Nov '66. If he was in the mix during that time... well, shame on me for not paying more attention. I'm actually heading to Asheville later this month (work related)... so, Bob & Helen, I hereby request Bill's contact info. I'd also like some historical info on him as far as his window at the Paradox and any other anecdotal input the collective "you" would care to offer. I'm now planning on taking a guitar with me!

Good morning, Tony. Helen is out of town for a few days so it may take her awhile to respond.

I remember Bill playing the banjo, but apparently he played many instruments back then. He played with the Beach City Ramblers and Helen said he toured with Mason Williams.

Bill doesn't do e-mail. I'll send you his phone number, hope I'm not to late. We went to Laughlin, NV and met with the Fischer's and other dear friends. long drive, but worth it.

Do any of you remember the Topanga Cannon Banjo and Fiddle contest? Bill was a judge and also performed.
Yes Tony, I think we're talkin' the same guy, small world story world story. Tony's early guitar teacher at Harbor Guitar in Costa Mesa, early 60's
