THE PARADOX BALL

Specal thanks to Ralph, Michael Ray, Uncle Bob, Lavender Jim and the Paradox Choir for turning my words and a few chords into a song.
It was the first time I ever had a dog in the race and it was a major rush to hear it become a reality. Bravo!

Bravo to you, too, Gary for writing it! It's our anthem now.

Those words put one right back in the Paradox. I can see it like an old photograph.
A little poetic time machine. Every time that song is played, the doors open and there we are again.

"The Paradox Ball" by
Gary Mullen.
A tradition is born.
A classic.

There's no way I'm the only reader who didn't enjoy hearing the lyrics to The Paradox Ball in real-time, so I won't feel alone in asking: any chance those lyrics could be posted herein?

The Paradox Ball

In a strip mall on Tustin down in the BIG ORANGE
Amid the great urban sprawl
Sat this little ol' club I'm sure you remember
Hell they don't even serve alcohol

You know Orange County it ain't cultural bliss
But here's some advice you can use
If you plant the right seeds your harvest will grow
So put on your Paradox Shoes
Chorus
You may come down easy
You may come down hard
You may not come down at all
You can write words of wisdom on the dressing room wall
When you shuffle your feet at The Paradox Ball

Taxes will rise and so will the creek
I'm pretty damn sure about that
But one night a week you can let yourself go
And put on your Dancin' hat

Tuxedos or blue jeans optional pearls
Around and around in a whirl
You can dance with your Demons
Your Angels and all
At the Thursday night Paradox Ball

Quick step forward and one to the rear
I can see you're doing just fine
A few more lessons and you're gonna find
You'll be stepping out lightly in three quarter time

You may come down easy
You may come down hard
You may not come down at all
You can write words of wisdom on the dressing room wall
When you shuffle your feet at The Paradox Ball

For the Brother's and Sister's
Who's Spirits have soared
You'll always live on in our songs
We know you'll be watching
And answer the call
For a final
Fandango at the Paradox Ball

You may come down easy
You may come down hard
You may not come down at all
You can write words of wisdom on the dressing room wall
When you shuffle your feet at The Paradox Ball

And let's not forget the hard work of Dave Hall -- our music man and technician all rolled into one.

I keep hoping all this music and video he and Pam are capturing will form the basis of some sort of non-profit Paradox foundation or Paradox house.

Let's not forget the hard work of YOU Gary, bringing up so much equipment, being the worlds best guest, when I'd get up there would be coffee and rolls, he cleans the kitchen, a great cook too. Big cheers for Gary!!!!!not to mention the "t's" and store runs, so many thoughtful acts. love you......

Ginny...Had to get some help from Harry Nillson on the cure...

"Put the lime in the coconut and drink 'em both together,
Put the lime in the coconut, and you'll feel better,
Put the lime in the coconut and drink 'em bot' up,
Put the lime in the coconut and call me in the morning"

I think that's one of those ooo-wee songs... Now I'm stuck with all three of them.

No, make that four, since I can also hear Steve Noonan holding forth against the preachers thanks to Michael Ray.

What a night.
